TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Summer begins at 4:50pm today. It should be another gusty day with winds coming from the east. Any showers that form today push quickly from east to west, so they won't last long in any spot.

Afternoon highs reach the low 90s today, but without excessive humidity, heat index values stay in the upper 90s. The breeze helps keep it slightly more comfortable as well.
The breeze relaxes tomorrow, so the afternoon storms that form may linger over areas longer. There's still just a 30% rain chance tomorrow, but that rain chance increases to 60% this weekend.

Expect classic summer weather with morning sunshine, high humidity and a round of afternoon and evening storms Saturday and Sunday.

The pattern continues into next week with highs staying in the low 90s.

Tropical Storm Alberto makes landfall today in Mexico, but the large wind field around the center keeps surge flooding an issue along the Texas coastline.

We have two other tropical waves to watch. One near the Bahamas only has a 30% chance of developing as it drifts toward north Florida, but another wave could develop in the same area where Alberto is now.
