TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- A typical summer weekend is underway with temperatures warming quickly into the low to mid-90s both Saturday and Sunday.

High humidity will lead to feels like temperatures in between 105 and 110 degrees each day.

Rain chances are high for mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms. A few showers pop up early along the coast and drift inland. The sea breezes from both coasts will merge and storms become widespread and increase in coverage late in the day.

Although rain chances come down a little bit heading into Monday and Tuesday, the pattern stays the same with generally a dry start to the day with afternoon showers and thunderstorms developing each day.
The tropics remain active. Tropical Storm Beryl is quickly moving west through the Atlantic toward the Caribbean Sea. The forecast calls for strengthening over the next few days and could become a category two hurricane by early next week in the Caribbean.

Most of the longer range forecast models keep weaken Beryl as it moves into the western Caribbean and toward Cuba, and also keep it south of Florida, however, this is a storm that will need watching because it is more than a week out and there is time for the forecast to change.

Another tropical wave, Invest 94-L, is moving into the Yucatan peninsula today, but has a medium chance of developing as it moves back into the Bay of Campeche. This will not impact the United States but bring more rain to Mexico.

Another tropical wave just came off the coast of Africa and the National Hurricane Center is already giving it a medium chance of developing over the next seven days as it moves west, along the same track Beryl is. This storm will also need watching heading into late next week.

Although the tropics are active right now, nothing is of immediate threat to the United States. Stay tuned heading into the middle and late portion of the holiday week as we keep an eye on the latest forecast models.
