TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Watch for the first showers of the day to develop near the coast around midday. The coverage of rain increases during the afternoon as the storms drift inland. Most of the rain tapers off after 7pm.

When it's not raining, it will be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and heat index values 100-106.

It's a similar pattern the next few days with rain starting near the coast and spreading inland. Slightly less coverage expected on Thursday.

Friday is the only day we have a better chance for morning rain. By the weekend, we switch to a pattern of late-day downpours that push toward the Gulf of Mexico in the evening.

Saharan dust continues to keep the tropics quiet into next week.
