TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Another round of storms starts to form around midday near the coast, and the downpours spread inland during the afternoon. The rain should taper off early in the evening as some drier air arrives.

It'll still be quite hot today with highs in the low 90s, and heat index values reach 101-107.

The slightly drier air lingers around tomorrow. There should still be a round of downpours, but it will not be quite as widespread at any one time. However, the spotty storms may linger later in the evening than today.

For the weekend, scattered downpours develop later in the day and drift toward the Gulf of Mexico in the evening. With storms starting later, it will be a bit hotter with highs in the low-mid 90s.

The tropics remain quiet with plumes of Saharan dust spreading across the Atlantic.
