TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Temperatures climb quickly through the morning, and many of us reach the mid 90s this afternoon. Heat index values will be 102-108 before the storms develop.

Rain chances increase to 50% during the late afternoon and linger past sunset. Pockets of heavy rain with frequent lightning are expected.

While the coverage of rain will be slightly lower tomorrow and Saturday, the pattern is still the same with rain increasing late in the day and continuing into the late evening. The rain chance is slightly higher again for Sunday, and the steamy days continue.

Next week, we should see a few more showers develop earlier in the day, and that helps hold highs in the low 90s, which is closer to average. Rain chances next week stay around 60% each afternoon.

Saharan dust plumes coming off Africa continue to keep the tropics quiet for now.
