TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Pinellas County has closed its registration for new special needs transportation requests ahead of Hurricane Helene making landfall in Florida.
Despite registration closing, residents in need of special needs transportation have a few options open.
PSTA is still offering free rides until the end of service hours on Wednesday.
Additionally, the state's transportation department has partnered with Uber for free transportation for those evacuating. Residents can use the code HELENERELIEF to get a $40 voucher for up to two trips.
To unlock the code: go to "Account", select "Wallet" or "Payment," and then "Add Promo Code" at the end of the page.
The county is also encouraging individuals to reach out to friends or neighbors for additional help getting to shelters before weather conditions become hazardous on Thursday morning.
