Hillsborough County officials speak amid Hurricane Helene

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Hillsborough County Emergency Management officials are holding a news conference as Florida's Gulf Coast prepares for the impacts of Hurricane Helene.

County Administrator Bonnie Wise, Hillsborough County Office of Emergency Management Director Timothy Dudley, and other officials will provide updates and safety information related to Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene has strengthened to a Category 4 Hurricane.

At 6: 20 p.m., the NHC reported that Helene had maximum sustained winds of 130 and was located 120 miles west of Tampa while moving north-northeast at 23 mph.

Helene is expected to make landfall Thursday night in the Big Bend region.
