TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - Showers and storms marching across the state flourish as they reach the Gulf this evening, growing in intensity & coverage. The rain should fade or push offshore between 9-10 p.m.

Overnight we will be muggy and quiet, with temperatures sinking down into the mid 70s.

Saturday will be the decidedly drier day of the weekend, so plan accordingly. The rain chance is just 30% in the afternoon, and there will be a warm breeze through the day. Rain chances ramp up during the day on Sunday, and the extra rain and clouds help hold highs in the mid 80s.

Waves of tropical moisture begun to wash across our state on Sunday afternoon, with widespread tropical downpours Sunday through Tuesday.

A low pressure develops in the south western parts of the Gulf, and forecast models generally agree that the low will develop into a Tropical Storm or weak Category 1 Hurricane and move towards the southwestern coast of Florida.

Inland flooding from rainfall would be the primary concern with this system .We already have as a saturated ground, and rainfall totals could reach 4-7 inches in some spots next week. Watch for street flooding when the heavy rain falls.

Behind the system, it should dry out for the end of next week.
