TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - While a few spotty showers are possible near the coast before midday, most of the downpours today develop farther inland later in the afternoon and evening. Heavy rain is likely with these storms.

We'll also have classic summer heat and humid with highs in the low 90s and heat index values in the low 100s.

The weather pattern shifts tomorrow, and a stronger wind from the Gulf of Mexico pushes the heaviest downpours closer to the east coast in the afternoon.

Our lowest rain chance comes Thursday with just a few passing showers pushing quickly to the east with the onshore wind flow.

The pattern returns to afternoon downpours for Friday and the weekend. You'll still be able to get outside for most of the day, but the late-day thunderstorms may drive you inside eventually.
The tropics are relatively quiet with just one tropical wave that has a 20% chance of developing as it passes through the Caribbean.
