TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Bay area experienced severe weather today, but is no longer under any watches or warnings.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for Manatee, Polk, Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco counties until 2 p.m.
Tornado watches for Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, Citrus and Hernando counties were also discontinued.

The day starts out mostly cloudy, warm and gusty ahead of the approaching cold front.
A line of storms arrived in Citrus and Hernando counties around 10am-11am, and continued to push south through the day.

The strongest storms were expected along and north of I-4 where there is a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather. The main threat was damaging wind gusts, but an isolated tornado was possible.

We also have a risk of coastal flooding around high tides due to the push of water 1-4 feet higher than normal. If you're close to the water line, watch for flooding this afternoon combined with the heavy downpours.

Once the front passes, the rain ends quickly early this evening. It stays mostly cloudy through midnight before the cooler and less humid air arrives.

Friday looks gorgeous with sunny skies, low humidity and a cool breeze. Highs will be slightly below average in the mid-upper 70s. We keep it comfortable through the weekend. It'll be a little cool in the mornings, but it warms up fast.

Next week, the warming trend takes us into the upper 80s, but it should be rain-free.
